As Fethiye Scuba Diving Center, we have divided our beginner courses into two main sections: theoretical knowledge and practical sea studies. Theoretical information given in accordance with CMAS (Confederation of World Underwater Activities) standards, limited shallow water studies in the pool environment in the winter season and 4 sea dives within the scope of the practical training program, and trainees who are successful in the exam are entitled to receive a certificate.
Is Scuba Diving Dangerous? Statistics show that injuries are much more common in sports other than scuba diving. The main reason for this is that other sports have much more vague rules compared to "scuba diving". This is why the training and certification system is implemented. As long as the rules and limits are followed, scuba diving is extremely safe.
When Can I Start Diving? You can start diving right away. There are approximately 300 diving centers operating in Fethiye and throughout Turkey. All you need to do is apply to the nearest diving center.
Who Cannot Participate in Diving? To participate in diving, you must be in good general health, be at least a primary school graduate, know how to swim and be over 14 years of age.
Is a Health Check Required Before Diving Training? You will be asked to fill out a form regarding your health information at our center. If there is a condition that needs attention on the form, we inform you to consult a doctor to determine whether you are suitable for diving.
What are the Health Problems that Prevent Diving? Conditions such as chronic ear problems, mental disorders, foreign substance addiction, epilepsy, cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure problems, respiratory system diseases and diabetes may prevent diving.
Is There an Age Restriction to Start Diving? It is sufficient to be 14 years old to start diving. For those under 18, a "Parental Consent Certificate" is required.
Do I need to be a very good swimmer to dive? No, you do not need to be a very good swimmer to dive. You just need to know how to swim well enough to stay afloat and feel comfortable in the water.
Is High Physical Condition Required for Diving? You don't have to be an excellent swimmer or athlete to dive. Anyone with no health problems can dive.
I am interested in scuba diving but I don't know if it is suitable for me, do I have a chance to try it before registering for a course? Yes, definitely! Before the dive, you will be given basic information and with the help of an instructor, you can do a 15-20 minute discovery dive to a maximum depth of 6 meters. In this way, you can easily find out if you are suitable for diving.
What Equipment Do I Need Before I Start Diving? You can come with just your swimsuit and towel to start. Our dive center will provide all the equipment you need. However, it is recommended that you bring your own mask, fins and snorkel.
Are Diving Cylinders Filled with Oxygen? No. In scuba diving, the cylinders are filled not with oxygen, but with the dry air we normally breathe. This air consists of 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen and 1% other gases.
How Many Meters Can We Go Down in Diving? The limit for sportive diving is 30 meters. Advanced certified divers can go down to depths of 30 meters. Divers under the age of 18 but with an advanced certificate can go down to depths of 24 meters.
What is the Diving Depth for Beginner Divers? Divers who have completed the beginner course can dive to a maximum of 18 meters. Advanced divers can dive to a maximum of 30 meters.
How Much Air is Enough Underwater? There is no specific answer to this question because every diver's physiology is different. Factors such as your breathing rate, underwater mobility, depth and water temperature affect your air consumption. However, standard diver equipment has indicators that measure the amount of air in the tank, so that you can comfortably get enough air during the dive.
Will I Get the Decompression Sickness? Decompression sickness (popularly known as the bends) is a rare condition. With the development of technology, many devices have been produced against decompression sickness and as long as the rules are followed, the risk of this disease is almost non-existent.
Are Underwater Creatures Dangerous? No underwater creature will harm you unless you disturb them. However, it is important to carefully choose where you touch underwater.
Diving Equipment Too Light? The average weight is around 20 kg, excluding the weight belt used for diving. However, thanks to the buoyancy of the water, you do not feel the weight of the equipment during the dive.
What Does It Feel Like to Be Underwater? Being underwater gives the feeling of flying in space. It provides the ability to move in a gravity-free environment and offers the opportunity to explore the silent world of our planet.
I Have Claustrophobia. Can I Dive? Underwater is not a claustrophobic environment as you might think. However, if you have claustrophobia to the point of panic, it is recommended that you do not dive. You can learn whether you feel comfortable with trial dives.
Where Can I Dive? Fethiye and its surroundings are one of the ideal areas for diving. Since Turkey is surrounded by sea on three sides, there are many diving areas. There are also many popular diving areas abroad with underwater paradises.
My Eyesight Is Bad, I Use Contact Lenses or Glasses. What Can I Do? If you are myopic up to 1.5-2 degrees, this is usually not a problem. However, if you have a more advanced degree of vision impairment, you can get yourself a special prescription diving mask.
My Ears Hurt When I Dive, Will I Feel This Pain When I Scuba Dive? This is a natural reaction when diving. The water pressure increases as you go deeper, affecting the eardrum. During the courses, you can easily learn to equalize your ears according to the pressure.
Is It Ethical to Spearfish While Scuba Diving? Spearfishing while scuba diving is unethical and the law prohibits the use of spearfishing while scuba diving.
